Way back in little Harry Potter's third year, he used a time turner to save a hippogriff by the name of Buckbeak and a "murderer" by the name of Sirius Black from execution. So Sirius and Buckbeak flew into the night, and all was well in the world. Actually, no it wasn't.
You see, in a perfect world, Buckbeak would've been saved. Unfortunately, Harry, Ron, and Hermione didn't manage to save Buckbeak. He got the chop. Sirius, on the other hand, managed to escape by amazing lengths on the behalf of an old Order member. Hagrid never was the same, but other than that, life went on mostly normal. Harry was still brave, Ron was still loyal, Hermione was still a genius, Luna was still nuts. But then fourth year, all that changed.
When Harry's name came out of the Triwizard Cup and he discovered he'd be fighting a dragon, he couldn't for the life of him figure out how to defeat it. When fake Moody gave him his one bit of advice, it proved to be too little, too late. Right in front of all of Hogwarts, the Boy Who Lived... died. Soon after, Barty Crouch Jr. took Harry's body to the graveyard and used his blood to bring back the Dark Lord.
Voldemort wasn't met with much resistance. Without Sirius and Harry, even the Order wasn't able to hold him off for long. Neville Longbottom was briefly trying to resist, but once Voldemort got his hands on the prophecy he wasted no time handing him over to Bellatrix. He's now more insane than his parents, living out his days in the dungeons of Hogwarts with the other students that dared challenge Voldemort.
Death eaters currently rule Hogwarts with an iron fist, muggleborns are barred from attending, and Voldemort has made the existence of magic known to muggles- by slaughtering them by the millions. However, don't think everyone is submissive to Voldemort's new regime. Ron (the only member of the trio to still attend Hogwarts) is starting a small band of students that remember Harry's message and what he stood for, and they're starting their own DA. But the question is, can it ever be enough?
