PERSONALITY OVERVIEW: Luna Lovegood is - in one word - eccentric. She believes wholeheartedly in fantastical creautres that others seem to think fake, and talks about them in her daily life. She comes off as flighty, seeming to always be in another world perhaps with her head in the clouds. She speaks serenely at all times, seemingly unaffected by normal human emotions. This isn't to say she doesn't experience feelings, she just doesn't let on how deeply they affect her and instead takes things in stride. She always seems to be far off and unreachable, a trait that is a defense mechanism of sorts, and has a distinct air of dottiness. She's known to be embarrisingly honest, seeing no point in keeping things hidden just for the sake of propriety. She speaks what is on her mind almost always, which can sometimes make her seem random.
Despite her oddities, she is a very sweet girl. She sees the best in most everything and everyone, able to have unwavering optimism in even the darkest of times. She is seemingly unaffected by the taunts of her peers, choosing always to be herself no matter the ridicule she faces. She is matter-of-fact in her daily life, never holding back to say things even when they can get her in trouble. In some ways, she has the bravery deserving of Gryffindor, being that she is unafraid to speak her mind and be herself. She seems to have an otherwordly wisdom, able to look at things from an outside perspective, perhaps because she is in many ways an outsider. Despite her demeanor of confidence, she is in fact affected by the taunts of her peers, choosing to hide the extent of which their words affect her. She is intelligent and exceedingly bright, seeing things in a way others don't and often helping in situations. Overall, she is a whimsical, sweet and intelligent young lady that is capable of great things even despite her seemingly flighty behavior.

MOTHER: Soledad Lovegood
SIBLINGS: None
OTHER FAMILY: None
SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS: Middle class
HISTORY OVERVIEW: Born to Xenophilius and Soledad Lovegood on Valentine's day 1981, Luna was raised in a very loving and accepting environment. The eccentricities of both her parents helped shape those of her own, and growing up she was always interested in fantastical creatures thought to be unreal. She figured that if they lived in a world with dragons, centaurs and the like, then why couldnt wrackspurts and nargles be real? She grew up in a rook like house outside of Otter St. Catchpole, near the Burrow where the Weasley family resided. As a young child she was much like she was now, a loner of sorts, having grown up without any siblings. Her parents were her best friends and that was good enough for her.
Tragedy struck at the age of nine for Luna when her mother - during one of her many experimentations - died during an experiment gone awry. It was something that greatly effected Luna, though she carried on just like she knew her mother would have wanted her to do. Her father was heartbroken, and for a time Luna cared for him, helping to mend his broken heart with her ever-present smile and whimsical demeanor. When she was eleven she got her letter to Hogwarts and began attending. Though sorted into Ravenclaw, she befriended Gryffindor Ginny Weasley and for the first time in her life had a true friend.
To this day she spends her days at Hogwarts that is now under the rule of Voldemort.

Olive Lovegood was a strange girl. She had been told this several times, and though she found herself perfectly normal, to everyone else she looked a fool. That is how she found herself under a tree outside, barefoot and no doubt sullying her dress against the grass on which she sat upon. Book in hand, she was humming a tune and flicking her wand in the air as if composing an orchestra.
Yes, she was a strange girl indeed. Her hair fell loose at the moment in long, wavy tendrils around her face. It was no doubt scandalous, but she had a head ache and she didn’t care much for the idle gossip of others, if she even realized it. It was scandalous of course, but probably not as scandalous as her bare legs that were exposed up to her knee where she had her dress hiked up to. So lost in her own world was she that it was likely that she didn’t notice much of the scandal that had been running rampant in the school.
It was hard to believe that the seemingly silly girl was a Ravenclaw, the house renowned for its wit. But Olive was an intelligent girl, just a bit whimsical, clumsy and to be honest odd. She continued her tune and wand waving as she turned the page to her novel, reading the words that were on the page. She loved to read, and she did so often. Having finished her homework for the day she took it upon herself to find the nice spot under the tree for a bit of downtime.
She looked every bit a dim young woman, sitting under the tree, foot shaking, wand waving and smiling broadly as she was. But she wouldn’t notice this, so happy was she in that moment, reading a fairy tale book and singing a sweet tune to herself. She liked to sing and compose herself as she did so, using her wand to flip the page once more. It was just getting to the part where prince charming would find his princess, she thought, and idly wondered if perhaps her prince charming would be out there waiting for her.
So caught up in this thought, she flicked her wand as if to turn the page but instead threw the book out of her hand, landing a few feet in front of her and at the foot of an unassuming stranger. Oh well, she thought, it was just a friend she had yet to meet.
