→ vampires
Vampires are sentient beings that are very much like humans, but different. They must drink blood to survive – any blood from any living creature will do. They crave this and need it as their sole sustenance. They cannot eat human food or drink human drinks, their body won’t be able to process it and they will become violently ill for trying. They retain their magic if they were a wizard before being turned, and have highly enhanced senses, strength and speed. They are sallow and pale in their looks, and as a result sunlight makes them weaker and burns them easily though they can survive exposure to it if they’re careful (parasols, hats, long sleeves, etc). In terms of breeding, they can procreate with humans but not amongst themselves. The result of a coupling between a human and vampire is a half vampire, something that will be explored later in this article. Vampires are for the most part accepted among society. They are slightly feared, but able to get jobs and attend Hogwarts. A vampire bite on its own does not kill nor does it change the person bitten to a vampire. In order to become a vampire, you must be drained of your blood then fed the blood of the vampire that changed you. This makes it possible for vampires to feed off of humans without killing them. In terms of magic, it affects them the same as it would anyone else, but they are known to heal faster from afflictions both magical and unmagical alike. Though a well aimed killing curse will do the trick in killing a vampire, they are otherwise immortal and live for a very long time.
→ half vampires
Half vampires are the product of a human and vampire couple. They have only slightly enhanced sense, strength and speed. They do not require blood to live but crave it anyways and are fully capable of eating human food. In fact, it is a necessity as they get their nutrients from it rather than from blood. They are known to look more pale than most but not nearly as sallow as their vampire kin and burn easier in the sun but it’s nothing sun block can’t fix. They can breed with vampires and humans alike. They are able to attend Hogwarts just like their vampire kin as well and are given the same types of jobs that humans are as they are not seen as dangerous because they do not require blood to live. Half vampires generally have longer life spans than normal humans.
→ werewolves
They must shift during the full moon, and in their wolf like form are completely unaware of who they are and are as such a danger to anyone around them. They acquire the ability for magic if they were a wizard before being made a werewolf, and just like vampires are affected by magic the same way humans would be. They too heal quicker than most and have highly enhanced senses while in human form, but only slightly enhanced speed and strength. A scratch or bite from a werewolf in their wolf like form will either kill you or make you a werewolf as well, while a scratch or bite from one in their human form will make you what is called a partial werewolf which will be explored later in this article. Werewolves can breed with humans and other werewolves, curse being carried genetically as well. So if one parent is a werewolf while the other is a human, the child will be a half werewolf.
→ half werewolves
Though they must too shift during the full moon, half werewolves still retain their sense of self as they are less afflicted with the curse. They too can perform magic, and are affected by magic the same as anyone else. Their healing rate is the same as a human, much like the half vampire, and their senses are duller than a full werewolves with no enhanced speed or strength. A scratch or bite from a half werewolf in any form only creates a partial werewolf. They are able to breed with anyone and their affliction is passed down, attributes getting more dull the further down they get.
→ partial werewolves
Partial werewolves are created from a scratch or bite form a werewolf in human form or a half werewolf in any form. Their senses are just slightly enhanced, with no enhanced speed or strength. They do not shift during the full moon and take on only a few attributes of people afflicted with the werewolf curse. As is the case of Bill Weasley, it is not unheard of for partial werewolves to prefer their meat on the rarer side.
→ veela
Semi-human, semi-magical hominids, Veela are extremely seductive creatures that take on the form of beautiful Caucasian women. Full Veela males are not known to exist at this moment in time, but half and partial male Veela have been known to exist. They have a natural sort of charm that makes them very alluring to people of all different races, but are known to be a very temperamental and oftentimes angry race. When angered, Veela faces transform into cruel-beaked bird faces and sprout scaly wings from their shoulders. They are known to be able to shoot fireballs from their hands, and have a lifespan averaging a bit more than that of a normal human. They are known to breed with wizards, producing half Veela. The Veela traits that are passed down are known to persist for a few generations.
→ half veela
Half Veela have the same alluring charm as their mothers, perhaps to a lesser extent. They are also known to inherit the classic Veela temper, and are able to produce smaller fireballs from their hands. When angered, their features get more sharp, but they do not shift to looking like a bird like their mothers. Their lifespan is the same as a normal human.
