play by: the characters play by
features: Narcissa is pale and her features are angular. Her hair is a mix of black and blonde, predominantly blonde, usually worn half pinned up or straight down; below shoulder length. Her eyes are almond shaped, very dark brown, almost black, usually seem heavy lidded since she sneers at most people.
build: 5"8, slim and slender, very little fat, slight curves.
distinctions: Her only piercings are her ear lobes. She has no marks or tattoos save for a very small birth mark on her shoulder that only Lucius, her parents and siblings have seen.
style: One of Narcissa's prime concerns is her appearance and so she takes her time with every aspect of it, even when casual. She always attempts to look her very best, whether she is staying at home with her husband or going to an important event, and will spend considerable amounts of time and effort to make sure she looks how she wants to. Over the years, she has learnt a number of techniques and cheats to speed up the process and cosmetic charms have helped her to spend less time working in front of her mirror.
As she is from an elegant, wealthy background, as well as marrying into a family of the same calibre and high expectations, Narcissa has always dressed elegantly, stylishly and smartly. This, of course, is relative to opinion but for the society in which she has always mingled she is considered incredibly fashionable. She enjoys wearing long, slender gowns of fine material, and will not be seen in anything casual. Her clothes are incredibly expensive and many are extravagant, but she also likes simple dresses and skirts that she can adorn with more opulent jewellery. This is one of Cissy's weakest spots, materialism. She will spend hours browsing necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings and brooches in stores and expects at least one new item of jewellery from Lucius at Christmases and birthdays.
Regarding make up, Narcissa is surprisingly natural, at least in comparison to most of the women she associates with. She does use a lot of lipstick, since it is her favourite item, and prefers deep colours to pale. She wears dark eye shadows and outlines her eyes but not heavily. Any eye make up is usually in a smokey style. Her nails are usually painted black, blood red or deep emerald green depending on her outfit.

adores:
- Her family- Lucius, Draco, Tegan and Bellatrix especially
- Her appearance and material items associated with it, such as clothing, jewels, make up and perfume
- Socialising at parties, events and gatherings since it allows her to feel important and exude her superiority over those lower than her
- The politics of pureblood supremacy and her peers, at least those who conform to the Dark Lord's views and opinions
- Reading romantic novels- only pureblood wizarding authors, of course. No muggle works can be found in her library
- Sleeping, especially in the comfortable bed she shares with Lucius, and on the plush sofa in the living room
- Her drawing room- a pretty room dedicated entirely to her where Lucius leaves her to do the 'woman things' she likes, such as inviting her friends over, drinking tea, reading the previously mentioned novels and preening in the mirror
- Gossip, both listening to it and passing it on
abhors:
- Harry Potter, though she doesn't think much about him now that he has died
- Mudbloods, blood traitors and muggles- even after Potter's death, she still thinks about these groups a lot and feels sick knowing that they exist. She detests anyone she considers to be inferior and these three groups are, she feels, the most inferior group of all
- Gryffindors- though she left school quite some time ago, Narcissa still feels that age old hatred of Gryffindors
- People who don't know their place
- Not getting her own way, when people ignore her and when her opinion isn't considered or accepted
- Ugly people. She doesn't like to look at people she thinks are ugly.
weakness:
- Her vanity- Narcissa considers herself to be a cut above the rest and therefore feels superior to virtually everyone else. She values only her own opinion and ignores everyone else (except her immediate family and the Dark Lord) so dismisses many others. She ignores people she deems inferior and prides herself on...well...everything. She is very quick to defend herself but mainly it is unjustified and she also ignores her own faults, though she will gladly list her virtues.
- Family- Narcissa's main weakness is her family. She will do absolutely anything for her immediate/close family and only ignores those who have gone to the 'wrong' side, such as her sister Andromeda and her cousin Sirius. You can easily get around Narcissa by threatening her family and she is unwilling to stand her ground where they're concerned.
- Prejudice and judgemental- Narcissa's ideas of pureblood supremacy, spurred on by her family and the family she married into, make her a cold hearted, cruel woman who cares nothing for muggles, muggle borns (mudbloods) and what she considers to be blood traitors. She will even disown her family, despite how attentive she is towards them, if they turn against the Dark Lord's ideas. She will very rarely deem anyone less than pureblood worthy of her time and is icy enough to think that murdering the people she hates is acceptable, believing it to be for a good cause.
strength:
- Intelligence- Despite her belief that women shouldn't need to be clever, Narcissa is incredibly intelligent. She knows a wide range of spells, from the most mundane to the complex, as well as having studied numerous areas of magic, especially the Dark Arts. She is a skilled Occlumens, like her sister (though never learned Legillimency) and can also perform wandless magic during duels. She is knowledgeable of the world around her, though she pretends not to be for a lot of the time.
- Love- Narcissa, despite her outward appearance, is incredibly kind and caring towards specific individuals, mostly her family and very few close friends. Although many people will never see this side of her, Narcissa's love makes her fiercely determined and powerful and she will do almost anything for these rare people who she considers to have a proper place in her heart.
- Charisma, charm and personality- when she is in company she deems appropriate, anyway. She is a confident and outgoing individual who values herself highly and, as such, as able to converse well with people in her social circle, many of whom think the same way. She is charming and can easily work her way around people, especially men.
boggart:
- Death of her family
- Growing old and ugly
- Being alone
amortentia:
- The smell of the cologne Lucius uses
- Roses and lavender from the gardens of the Malfoy Manor
- New clothing
mirror of erised: A perfect, happy family
veritaserum: She thinks she's fat; she actually likes Lucius with facial hair; when she was a little girl, she wet herself in public but managed to hide it
patronus: Cat- her wedding day or holding Draco for the first time
dementor: Losing Andromeda when she was younger, then losing Bellatrix to Azkaban when she was a little older
overview: For the most part, Narcissa is a cold, cruel, icy woman. She is snobbish, judgemental, prejudiced, vain and thinks way too highly of herself. She is also opinionated and snappy when she does not get her own way. Her family brought her up to be this way but she has not allowed anyone else to influence her to be otherwise and so it is just as much her fault as theirs that she is so nasty and spiteful to people. Throughout her life, Narcissa has agreed with the notion of pureblood supremacy and so has condemned muggleborns and muggles- as has she with anyone who believes 'mudbloods' are worthy of her. Since she has been used to wealth throughout her life, she also puts high value on money and material goods and is incredibly materialistic. It is often how she best expresses her affection, through physical gifts, such as sending packages of sweets to Hogwarts or buying presents for her husband and sister.
Despite her faults, Cissy is a good woman at heart. She is a doting mother and an adoring wife and will put her family before anyone else, including herself. Saying this, it is incredibly rare that she will do so and there are few people this applies to. Also, Narcissa is intelligent, creative and intuitive, though she does not use these traits as well as she should, or for the right and good purposes. Her charisma and confidence also make her appear more positive than she can sometimes seem, though only in her own social circles, since some people consider her confidence to be cockiness or arrogance.

overview:
The Noble House of Black had already seen 2 girls born to Cygnus Black and Druella Rosier but were more than happy to welcome a third. Narcissa Violette Black was born 2 years after her elder sister Andromeda, and 5 years after her eldest sister, Bellatrix. The new baby of the family, she was doted on and spoiled by everyone around her, especially considering her unusual colouring, the pretty blonde which had not been seen on either of her sisters. Her elder sister especially was very protective of the little girl and Cissy grew up being able to get anything she wanted out of anyone.
Throughout her childhood, Cissy was friendly with Lucius, a boy almost a year older than her who was the only son of her parents' closest friends, the Malfoys. Although she wasn't aware of it for a number of years, he was perhaps the closest friend she ever had. They spent huge amounts of time together and she would often attempt to encourage him to play her games, many of which he deemed to be too girly but caved in anyway. Through Lucius, she was also introduced to a Scottish boy, a pureblood named Malcolm Cornfoot, whose family were also close to the Malfoys and Blacks through their fathers' connections as supporters of Grindelwald.
Since Cissy was incredibly close to her sisters, she found it difficult when both of them attended Hogwarts. Initially, the blow of Bellatrix leaving her was softened by the realisation that she still had Andromeda, but she soon learned that Annie wasn't as willing to gang up on their cousin, Sirius, with her, as Bella had been. She was therefore less concerned when Andromeda went, until she realised that this meant all she had in terms of family was Regulus, who she liked but who she thought was much too serious for a boy. Instead, she preferred spending time with her friends and this set the tone for her future love of socialising.
Narcissa attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardary at the age of 11, alongside her friends, including Lucius and Malcolm. She was sorted into Slytherin with the two of them and felt proud that she'd continued the family tradition. In Slytherin, Narcissa found out much more about magic and enjoyed practising spells, charms and enchantments. She enjoyed learning about the Dark Arts but had to do so through the lessons on how to defend oneself against them. Still, the Slytherin Common Room provided an ideal forum for her to bounce around her opinions on the matter and she soon realised that there was a large group forming in response to a rising new practitioner of the Dark Arts, who they called the Dark Lord.
When Narcissa was in the middle of her studies, Bellatrix having left the school, Andromeda decided that she was going to marry a muggleborn man named Ted Tonks. She announced this to the family after graduating from the school and was promptly disowned. Although Cissy showed as much anger as her older sister at the revelation, she was also shocked and privately grieved for a long time over the loss of her sister. She was also highly embarrassed, especially in front of her friends, since this tainted the family's name.
During her time at Hogwarts, her relationship with her old friends fluctuated. For a time, she decided that it wasn't cool or proper to be seen with the boys, and they appeared to think the same about her. For two years the three friends remained on good terms but saw increasingly less of each other, until both sides began to take much more notice in the opposite gender. After this, Cissy fell in love with Lucius, who she saw as the ideal man. Although she still liked Malcolm as a friend, she and Lucius pursued a relationship with one another, though for a brief period, when they realised their parents were pushing them together, they temporarily rebelled by pretending not to like each other.
Eventually, however, Narcissa and Lucius married, after graduating from Hogwarts. Lucius and Malcolm had joined the newly forming ranks around the Dark Lord, known as Death Eaters. They supported the promotion of pureblood supremacy and saw muggleborns and muggles as inferior. Anyone who disagreed with them was considered a blood traitor and therefore as bad as the muggle filth. Narcissa supported her husband in this, though she never joined the ranks herself, deeming it to be unladylike. After some attempts at conceiving, Narcissa finally gave birth to a handsome baby boy, who she named Draco, continuing her family tradition of naming children after constellations. The couple gave him his father's name as a middle name, following the paternal tradition in the Malfoy family.
Lucius and Narcissa doted upon Draco and adored him, so much so that they decided to have another child. Cissy gave birth to a daughter, named Tegan, a year later. However, shortly before Tegan's birth, the Dark Lord was defeated. Narcissa lost her eldest sister to Azkaban and the family was thrown into panic as the Ministry attempted to round up Death Eaters. Rather than go to prison, the Malfoys pleaded innocent, claiming that the Dark Lord had used an Imperius Curse. By this time, Narcissa was 7 months pregnant with Tegan and gave birth to the child shortly afterwards.
From this point onwards, Narcissa lived, with her family, in a life of luxury. The Malfoys had wealth and status and she enjoyed the privileges that this brought with it. She convinced her husband to send Draco and Tegan to Hogwarts instead of sending them to foreign schools, so that they were closer to home. When the Dark Lord rose again, Cissy supported her husband as he returned to their master's side and was just as shocked as everyone else when Potter was finally killed. She has since been in two minds- she has enjoyed her life alongside her husband, working under the Dark Lord in his new regime, but she is also rather worried and fearful, since their master does not always show mercy. For the most part, however, she feels that her family are relatively safe and protects them as best she can from the Dark Lord's wrath, should they provoke it.
Note: Plot fits with Tegan's and so has Ana and David's approval so far.

secret phrase: fight it out
sample: As Narcissa on another forum:Having spent almost 3 months in relative normality and calm, Narcissa realised that soon she would have to consider giving in to her husband's demands that she refrain from doing anything strenuous. She did think Lucius was being a little too dramatic about it, and overprotective, but she decided she'd rather be safe than sorry. She had already secured for herself the potential opportunity to help her husband at the Ministry, attempting to rectify the horrendous situation that was Hogwarts School. As much as she admired Snape, she didn't think that he was acting fast enough, nor that he was being anywhere near as pro-active in helping sort the place out as he could be.
Other than this, however, she would most likely have to confine herself to the Manor for the majority of her time. Of course, it wouldn't be like a prison, but she knew that she would be spending a sizeable portion of her pregnancy there and it would be best to get herself something to do whilst she could. She had already attempted knitting and discarded numerous items of clothing, not enjoying the experience at all. That was out. She had set herself the task of finding initial ideas for the nursery, but she needed Lucius if she was going to do anything properly, so that, too, was out.
What else was there left to do? She'd already read many of the books in the Manor, and certainly all the ones that interested her. Narcissa liked reading, but she didn't like reading the same book more than once, not unless it was an absolute favourite. It was for this reason that she caved in to her thirst for more reading material and set her course for Diagon Alley, Flourish and Blotts in particular. Shopping was one of her favourite hobbies, and so would be the perfect distraction, and if she could buy some new books she could kill two birds with one stone.
Setting foot in the store, she felt a little unusual. Usually she headed for the shops that sold clothing, or something of that sort- she wasn't really the academic type, despite her intelligence. She just never really felt drawn to the bookshop. But now she felt quite content to be in here, browsing tomes based on subjects that interested her, or themes that she enjoyed. She quickly hurried past the dark creatures section, not wanting to see any images of werewolves. Instead, she made her way towards another shelf and began browsing, the items she had already decided to buy clutched to her chest. She reached for a book on a shelf above her but it slipped and ended up falling in front of the person browsing next to her.
